- Birder's Guide to Pennsylvania, by Paula Ford
Gulf Publishing, Houston, 1995, $17.95
Paperback: Covers over 180 locations, almost all publicly owned. Organized by
geophysical region; 34 maps, line drawings of birds, checklist (includes
hypotheticals), bibliography, includes information about handicapped accessibility.
Miscellaneous Information
Think about this: Where do hikers go? Outdoors. Where do you bird? Outdoors.
Where do they hike? Mostly public lands. Where do you bird? Mostly public lands.
Thus, I figure that the following (yet another) conglomeration of links provide
more information about local, public places to bird. They are not necessarily
described from a birding point of view, nor any guarantees that they are bird-worthy,
but ... you can walk there and try it. Minimally, some background information,
direction to the locations and maps may be provided.
Weather
If you are wondering if you are going to be rained/snowed on out in the field, or if
you are wondering if those weather gurus are forecasting southwest spring migration
winds (or northwest fall winds), check out the forecast nearest you ...
