This is theThursday, April 1, 1999, update of the North Central Texas Rare
Bird Alert. If you need information on local Audubon membership or field

reported today, April 1. However no exact location was given. Also present
was a Cinnamon Teal and Scissor-tail Flycatchers.

At the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, a Louisiana
Waterthrush was seen today. The bird was in the second creek past the main
entrance.

At River Legacy Park, Arlington, Tarrant County, today 6 Black-bellied
Whistling Ducks were seen flying along the river. Five were later seen at
Village Creek Drying Beds, Fort Worth, Tarrant County. A second Louisiana
Waterthrush was seen in River Legacy Park. The observer "only" had 87 species
between River Legacy and Village Creek today. The first Swainson's Hawk of
the year was observed soaring Village Creek Drying Beds this evening. The
Cinnamon Teal and Eared Grebes are still present. Shore bird numbers are
still low.

On Wednesday 31 March a Black Throated Green Warbler was seen at River Legacy
Park.

A Common Loon was found at White Rock Lake, Dallas, Dallas County, Tuesday 30
March. A possible nesting pair of White Breasted Nuthatches were seen in the
White Rock Lake area. At the North end of White Rock Lake at Lawther Lane
look for a large tree between Poppy Lane and Sunset Drive. The birds are very
loud, so listen for them.
