west from Leighton on Co. 22 and turn north in a couple of miles on
Marthaler Lane. Go about a mile to the ponds along the road beyond
the RR track.

In 3.0 miles the paved road becomes dirt. In another 1.5 miles you reach
the farm entrance on the left at a 90-degree right turn. Please do
not walk or drive on the grass at this or any sod farm.

An alternate-plumaged EARED GREBE was discovered 3/25 in the bay

LONG-BILLED CURLEW is still at the Battleship, and four
AM. GOLDEN-PLOVERS were seen 3/25. Blakeley Island had
few birds 3/25.
Many shorebirds were seen in the western Bayou La Batre pond 3/25. Just
north of the drawbridge in Bayou La Batre, go west on Little River Road.
Where the road turns sharply left the second time, take the dirt
road straight about a half mile to the diked ponds. Do not drive on the
dikes.
A SHORT-EARED OWL continued through 3/17 from the parking lot
midway along the northern boundary of Key Cave NWR west of Florence.
Go west from town on AL 20 towards Savannah and turn left on Co. 2
