Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha , for Monday, March 29th.

In western Nebraska in Keith County on the 27th, 2 CINNAMON TEAL, a
BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, a BARN OWL & a RUSTY BLACKBIRD were found at the Clear
Creek marshes, & on the 28th, a LONG-BILLED CURLEW was seen there. At
Lake McConaughy on the 27th, 700 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS, 31 BAIRD'S
SANDPIPERS & 2 AMERICAN PIPITS were seen. On the 28th at Lake Ogallala,
21 GREATER SCAUP, 40 BONAPARTE'S GULLS, a THAYER'S GULL & an adult
GLAUCOUS GULL were spotted. Also on the 28th at Lake McConaughy, a
COMMON LOON, 47 HORNED GREBES, 107 WESTERN GREBES & a CLARK'S GREBE were
seen.

In Garden County on the 28th, 4 EARED GREBES, an AMERICAN AVOCET, 2
LONG-BILLED CURLEWS, a RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET & 2 SAVANNAH SPARROWS were
seen at Crescent Lake National Wildlife Refuge.

In southern Cheyenne County on the 28th, 2 FERRUGINOUS HAWKS, a MERLIN, a
PRAIRIE FALCON, 2 BURROWING OWLS & a SAY'S PHOEBE were seen.

In southern Kimball County on the 28th, 2 GOLDEN EAGLES, a SAY'S PHOEBE,
a SAGE THRASHER & 14 CHESTNUT-COLLARED LONGSPURS were found.

In Scotts Bluff County on the 27th, 2 PYGMY NUTHATCHES & 2 EVENING
GROSBEAKS were seen at Wildcat Hills Nature Center. Also on the 27th, an
AMERICAN BLACK DUCK & 11 GREATER SCAUP were found at Winters Creek Lake.

In Phelps County on the 28th, 20 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS, 1200 GREATER
WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, 9 ROSS'S GEESE, 9 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 25 GREATER
YELLOWLEGS, 15 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, 2 MARSH WRENS & 3 GREAT-TAILED
GRACKLES were found at Funk Lagoon. Also on the 28th, 2 immature
FERRUGINOUS HAWKS were seen along the Funk-Odessa Road near Funk Lagoon.

In Buffalo County, a GREATER SCAUP was seen along I-80 near the Gibbon
Interchange.

In eastern Nebraska in Lancaster County on the 26th, 2 COMMON SNIPES were
found on Spring Creek Prairie south of Denton.

In Douglas County on the 29th at Zorinsky Lake the following species were
seen: 30 DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS, a BONAPARTE'S GULL, 2 HERRING GULLS &
2 TREE SWALLOWS. On the 27th, a WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was seen in a
yard near Forest Lawn Cemetery in Northeast Omaha.

In Sarpy County on the 28th, 2 WOOD DUCKS were seen in the south branch
of the Papio Creek a mile north of Chalco Hills Recreation Area.

In Saunders County on the 27th, BLUE-WINGED TEAL, RING-NECKED DUCKS,
AMERICAN WIGEON & GADWALLS were found on a pond off of Highway 6 south of
Ashland.
