Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha , for Friday, March 26th.

In central Nebraska in Kearney County, the COMMON CRANE was seen today at
6:30 p.m., but no details on location are available. To get to the area
where it has been seen, take the I-80 Exit 285 and go south about 3
miles. For updates on the Common Crane, call the Audubon Rowe Sanctuary
at 308 468-5282. Please report any sightings of the Common Crane to the
Birdline.

In Adams County, a WHOOPING CRANE is being seen about 1 to 2 miles
northwest of Prosser. On the 24th in Hastings, a CAROLINA WREN was heard
calling on the southwest corner of the Community College campus.

In Buffalo County, a EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE is regularly visiting a
feeder at 30th Street & Avenue C in Kearney. On the 24th, a CHIPPING
SPARROW was seen at the feeders at Rowe Sanctuary.

In Phelps County on the 24th, a PEREGRINE FALCON was spotted 1 mile
northeast of Funk Lagoon & a MERLIN was seen 1 mile west of Funk Lagoon.
A PRAIRIE FALCON was also seen in Phelps Co.

In Hall County on the 24th, a GREATER SCAUP was seen in a sandpit near
the Whooping Crane Trust Headquarters south of the I-80 Alda Exit.

In Hamilton County on the 24th, 12 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS were found at Deep
Well WMA in the western part of the county. Also on the 24th, 2 GREAT
EGRETS were seen west of Henderson.

In western Nebraska in Keith County on the 26th, an adult ICELAND GULL &
a BONAPARTE'S GULL were found below the dam at the Kingsley hydro
station.

In eastern Nebraska in Lancaster County on the 25th the following species
were found at Branched Oak Lake: a COMMON LOON, 70 AMERICAN WHITE
PELICANS, 14 ROSS'S GEESE with 800 SNOW GEESE, 28 RED-BREASTED
MERGANSERS, 20 HOODED MERGANSERS, 3 BONAPARTE'S GULLS, 6 FRANKLIN'S
GULLS, 18 HERRING GULLS, 2,000 RING-BILLED GULLS & 2 NORTHERN SHRIKES.

In Douglas County on the 24th, 12 WOOD DUCKS, a FOX SPARROW, 3 SWAMP
SPARROWS, & 9 SONG SPARROWS were seen in Dodge Park north of Omaha. Also
on the 24th, 3 PINE SISKINS were seen along the North River Road. In
Sarpy County on the 26th, 8 species of waterfowl, including BLUE- WINGED
TEAL, were found at Walnut Creek Lake southwest of Papillion.

In Burt County on the 25th, LESSER SCAUP & RUDDY DUCKS were found at
Summit Lake near Tekamah.

In Iowa on the 24th north of Crescent, a NORTHERN GOSHAWK was seen at
Hitchcock Nature Area.
