Welcome to the Bird Alert of Kansas City, a service of Burroughs Audubon
updated Monday, March 22nd.

Alexis Powell reported an immature GLAUCOUS GULL as well as several
TREE SWALLOWS at Clinton Lake (Douglas County, KS) on March 20th.
The GLAUCOUS GULL was seen flying along the dam.

Nan Johnson and JoAnn Garrett birded Lake Jacomo and James A. Reed
Conservation Area in Jackson County, MO on March 20th and found
3 LOGGERHEAD SHRIKES, 30 DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS, 1 TURKEY VULTURE,
and 1 EASTERN PHOEBE.

Also on March 20th Don Arney was at Taberville Prairie (St. Clair County, MO),
and reports 1 SHORT-EARED OWL as well as GREATER PRAIRIE-CHICKENS
booming on the lek. At Schell-Osage Conservation Area (St. Clair County, MO),
Don reports 1 COOPER'S HAWK, singing FIELD SPARROWS, TREE SWALLOW,
and BREWER'S BLACKBIRDS. At Four Rivers Conservation Area in Vernon
County, MO, a TURKEY VULTURE was seen as well as COOPER'S HAWK,
GREATER YELLOWLEGS, EASTERN PHOEBE, and TREE SWALLOWS.

The TUNDRA SWAN that has been present for several weeks at Squaw Creek
National Wildlife Refuge (Holt County, MO) was still present on Sunday the
21st, reports Harry Gregory. 6 TREE SWALLOWS were reported at Squaw
Creek on March 19th by Mark Ruck. 2 GREATER YELLOWLEGS were seen there,
also on the 19th, by Jim Rathert.

Mark Land was at Shawnee Mission Lake (Johnson County, KS) on March 22nd
and reports 2 breeding plumaged COMMON LOONS.
