Welcome to an update of the Nebraska Birdline, sponsored by the Audubon
Society of Omaha, for Monday, March 22nd.

In central Nebraska in Kearney County, the COMMON CRANE was spotted again
today at noon about a quarter of a mile south of County Rd. W & 200 yards
east of County Rd. 39. Take the I-80 Exit 285 and go south about 3 miles
and look for County Road W. For updates on the Common Crane, call the
Audubon Rowe Sanctuary at 308 468-5282. Please report any sightings of
the Common Crane to the Birdline.

In Hamilton County on the 19th, a WHOOPING CRANE was seen with a flock of
SANDHILL CRANES 5 miles east of Grand Island south of Interstate 80.

In Clay County on the 20th, 3 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS were spotted ½ mile
north of Fairfield at Kissinger WMA.

In eastern Nebraska in Antelope County on the 21st, 9 SHORT-EARED OWLS
were found 3 miles south & 1 mile east of Creighton.

In Seward County on the 20th, a SHORT-EARED OWL was seen at Straight
Water WMA & another was found at Tamora WPA.

In Dodge County on the 18th, a GREATER YELLOWLEGS was seen on a farm pond
5 miles north & 1 mile west of Ames.

In Lancaster County at Stagecoach Lake on the 19th, a PIED-BILLED GREBE,
a HORNED GREBE, 3 GREATER SCAUP & 2 BONAPARTE'S GULLS were found. On the
18th, a HORNED GREBE & 15 GREAT-TAILED GRACKLES were seen at Oak Lake in
Lincoln.

In Sarpy County on the 20th in Fontenelle Forest, a TREE SWALLOW & a FOX
SPARROW were seen at Hidden Lake. Also on the 20th, a TURKEY VULTURE, 6
BALD EAGLES & A RED-SHOULDERED HAWK were seen In Fontenelle Forest & a
GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET was seen along the boardwalk near Hickory Trail.
