This is the Chicago Audubon Society bird report for Thursday,
March 18th at 11:30PM.

An adult ROSS'S GOOSE was seen Wednesday at Calumet Park in
Lake Michigan by the beach south of the Coast Guard station.

The TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE in the Morton Arboretum was seen
Saturday along the south side of Meadow Lake and on Sunday
it was with ROBINS and BLUEBIRDS along the south leg of
Illinois Tree Trail Loop 2 near the signs for the legume
family.

An adult GOSHAWK was seen Wednesday in the woods on the west
side of Wolf Lake. Also at Wolf Lake were 16 species of ducks.

An adult RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was seen Wednesday at Eggers Woods.

BALD EAGLES were seen today at Bakers Lake and in Waukegan.

COMMON LOONS were seen today on Diamond Lake and on Liberty Lake.

Nine MUTE SWANS were on Miltmore Lake today.

1500 to 2000 SANDHILL CRANES were seen migrating over Arie Crown
Woods in Countryside on Monday, and another 1500 SANDHILL CRANES
were seen there today along with TURKEY VULTURE, ROUGH-LEGGED
HAWK and five SHARP-SHINNED HAWKS.

A SNOW GOOSE was seen Tuesday at Gillson Park.

A WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE and 30 SANDHILL CRANES were seen at the
Brookfield Zoo on Wednesday.

257 SANDHILL CRANES were seen Monday over Barrington.

Migrants seen Wednesday between Montrose and the Bird Sanctuary
included four BLUEBIRDS, 10 EASTERN MEADOWLARKS, EASTERN PHOEBE,
KILLDEERS, GREAT HORNED OWL and 100 SONG SPARROWS.

Migrants seen at the Northwestern University Landfill in
Evanston on Wednesday included AMERICAN PIPIT, HARRIER,
MEADOWLARK, KILLDEER and over 1000 BLACKBIRDS.

Tomorrow, Friday March 19th, the Chicago Audubon Society will
be hosting a program on sparrow identification being presented
by Jon Dunn. The lecture will be at North Park Village Nature
Center at 6801 N. Pulaski in Chicago. Refreshments are at
7:00 and the lecture will begin at 7:30. There will be no
charge but you are requested to preregister at the Audubon
office at 773-539-6793.
