Welcome to the Bird Alert of Kansas City, a service of Burroughs Audubon
updated Monday, March 15th.

On March 11th Mark Robbins reported 1 adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL,
1 adult GLAUCOUS GULL, 1 immature GLAUCOUS GULL, 3 FRANKLIN'S GULLS,
and 2,500 RING-BILLED GULLS at Lawrence Riverfront Park Wildlife Area
(Douglas County, KS), also known as the Old Landfill, north of Lawrence
along the Kaw River. The LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was also seen again
on the morning of March 14th at the flooded sand pit in north Lawrence
by Alexis Powell.

On March 13th, Mark Land reported 3 AMERICAN PIPITS from Hillsdale Lake
(Miami County, KS), and on March 14th, 6 AMERICAN PIPITS were seen at
Perry Lake (Jefferson County, KS) by Matt Gearhart and Aaron Mitchell.

Aaron Mitchell reported from Four Rivers Conservation Area (Vernon County,
MO) on March 12th, 1 TREE SWALLOW, and at Taberville Prairie (St. Clair
County, MO) 30 GREATER PRAIRIE-CHICKENS.

A male PINE GROSBEAK briefly visited the feeders at Maurice Conway's
residence (sp?) in Grandview (Jackson County, MO) on March 11th.

The 2 TRUMPETER SWANS at the Independence Airport (Jackson County, MO)
were still being seen through the past weekend. Both of these birds are
two years old and were released at Waterloo, Iowa in 1998.
