On the 13th in the Central in Tama County, an immature GOLDEN EAGLE was seen
at Otter Creek Marsh. In the southeast in Louisa County, seven adult TUNDRA
SWANS were seen from the east side, and an adult TRUMPETER SWAN was in the
northwest corner at Cone Marsh. In Johnson County, a SAW-WHET OWL was at
Hickory Hill Park in Iowa City, in a small cedar down the hill 250 yards
straight east of the shelter at the Dodge Street entrance. A MERLIN was
spotted in Pleasant Valley Township.
On the 12th in the northeast in Jones County, a LONG-EARED OWL was in a
small wooded area at the northeast corner of Muskrat Slough. In Linn County,
two HORNED GREBES were at Cedar Lake in Cedar Rapids, and a female GREATER
SCAUP was at Pleasant Creek Recreation Area north of Palo. In the central,
seven TRUMPETER SWANS were fylovers at Anderson lake near Jewell.
