This is the Chicago Audubon Society bird report for Monday,
March 8th at 10:00PM.
A female-plumaged HARLEQUIN DUCK was seen last Tuesday off
the 55th Street Promontory.
Adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS were seen Thursday at the
64th Street Beach and Friday on Gages Lake.
A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL and an ICELAND GULL were seen
Thursday on the Aquarium breakwater.
A first year ICELAND GULL was at North Point Marina on Sunday.
CANVASBACK, REDHEAD and GADWALL were among the many ducks
seen last weekend at the Botanic Gardens.
A FOX SPARROW, 10 SONG SPARROWS, four GREAT BLUE HERONS and
two SCREECH-OWLS were at Rosehill Cemetery on Sunday.
Small numbers of all the dabbling ducks have now been seen in
the area as BLUE-WINGED TEAL were seen in Lake County on
Thursday before the weather got cold and many of the ponds
froze over again.
NORTHERN SHRIKES were present last weekend at Greene Valley
Forest Preserve and Volo Bog.
SANDHILL CRANES are still being seen on the ice and snow at
Volo Bog and at Lake Villa.
